Letters To The Editor

- Responds To Short Memory - Daniels And IPALCO Responds To Short Memory Editor, Times-Union: I'm writing in response to "Short Memory" by J.Robert and Jodie Boggs Sept.21.This entire article is obviously just more Republican drivel and propaganda. The visceral attack on the United Nations Secretary General Kofi Anan is an outrage. Those who accuse Mr.Anan of having a short memory seem to have no recollection of past events period.Kofi Anan has been making these statements since the war in Iraq began. In March Mr.Anan said, "The war in Iraq is illegal and the United States is in violation of the U.N.charter, and the Geneva convention!" The Bush administration with its rush to war, ignored the vote of the U.N.security council, arrogantly calling the United Nation irrelevant.

- MDA Donations - Vacuum Sign - Then And Now - Bible Scorn - Football Facilities MDA Donations Editor, Times-Union: After reading the letter in last night's Times-Union (regarding MDA), I was very disappointed in our community! All we could share with MDA was $2,446? How sad! My boyfriend and I pledge money every year for this cause. We are not rich in money, but feel very blessed in other areas of our lives.I cannot believe that every resident of Kosciusko could not give at least $1! Someday, one of your family members may be stricken with one of the MD diseases and I bet you will be first in line asking for help.

- Debate? What Debate? - Project Derailed Debate? What Debate? Editor, Times-Union: While experts debate who won the first presidential debates, the real losers were the American public, who didn't hear a genuine alternative like Libertarian presidential candidate Harry Browne. The debate wasn't a choice, it was an echo. For 90 minutes, the words "liberty" or "freedom" weren't mentioned a single time. Instead, you had one candidate, Republican George W.Bush, who wants to make government much bigger, and you had another candidate, Democrat Al Gore, who wants to make government much, much bigger.

Editor, Times-Union:Hello. My name is Tambi Manns.

Editor, Times-Union: To reverse global climate change, if it’s real and not a cult-like belief, I would reduce emissions from coal-fired power plants with plasma burners and use plasma igniters …

Editor, Times-Union:We sure have had a lot of fretting and fussing over health care these days.

Editor, Times-Union:I thought this letter may be beneficial to many of your readers, especially those who own pre-1978 homes and plan on renovating those homes, and also to contractors as well, for a heads-up and head start.

The face of health care has changed dramatically since the first National Hospital Week was celebrated in May 1953.

Editor, Times-Union:As far back as I can recall I have memories of you. All my family seemed to like you, yet I didn’t have a clue. You were in my life everyday whether I liked you or not. You had many names like Mary Jane, skunk, weed and pot. I remember loving the way you smell. Little did I know, you’d be my guide into hell.

Editor, Times-Union:Thistles, Canadian thistles and bull thistles.

Editor, Times-Union:Re: Donald E. GuardI'm not sure why I spend hours researching and writing, fact-checking and whatnot - it's obvious Mr. Guard doesn't - but as Stephen Colbert says, "Go out 10 yards and button-hook to the left. I'm going to hit you with a perfect spiral of the truth."

Editor, Times-Union:I am not going to pretend to be a Bible scholar.

Buildings in Warsaw aren't very accessible for people in wheelchairs.I am able to get in and out of my house and my vehicle, because we had them adapted to my needs, thanks to Vocational Rehab. They have helped me a great deal making my life as normal as it can be.

Editor, Times-Union:As the 2010 mid-term elections draw near, consequently we need to ask ourselves who are we voting for and what are we voting for.

Editor, Times-Union:The concept that hate messages are acceptable, besides straining credulity, runs contrary to the Christian ethic.

Editor, Times-Union:Let's go back a few generations from Dr. Remington's nostalgic, well-put letter on Warsaw and its growing pains. In 1926, my dad moved his five children just off of Lake Street (on Perry) into a nice big house - population about 5,000 then.

Editor, Times-Union:I am writing this in response to the letter written by Jeff Jones asking for friends.

As the community wraps up the year-long celebration of Cardinal Services’ 60th Anniversary, one thing is abundantly clear. People with disabilities have greater opportunity now than ever before. Where once every aspect of their life was dictated to them, today they are given choices and enjoy many of the freedoms they were once denied.
