- Level Playing Field Level Playing Field Editor, Times-Union: Former Governor Otis R."Doc" Bowen taught me a cardinal principle of public service. When seeking election, he said that one's candidacy should always be just what it appears to be. He said this allows the voters an opportunity to make an informed decision when going to the polls on who best would serve their interests. I am moved to write this letter in that in elections today, all too often we see the presence of the lack of a level playing field. It is prevalent in many national and state elections, and I am becoming aware this is happening with our local upcoming May 2 primary election for the office of sheriff. This concerns me as everyone, most importantly the voters, deserves a level playing field.

Editor, Times-Union:At the Republican party clambake a few nights ago, I heard a lot about La Cesspool Grande spending too much money - and "let's limit government!"

And what is your solution to this problem?
