This is a question. A question posed at our judges, prosecutors and police. Why is it that you refuse to except or promote change? A change in your thinking and your actions. We have a very big social problem in our community. People destroying their lives with Meth and cocaine, and our youth overdosing on everything from heroin to Methadone. And what is your solution to this problem?
It is 2007, and the best solution you have is to arrest people and throw them in jail. With all the advances in science and technology, we have gotten out of touch with each other.
You should not only be embarrassed, but also ashamed of yourselves. You have spent your lives building your careers, and now that you are in the position and have the power to make a change, you do nothing.
Luckily, it is not too late to stop this cycle. We live in a community that is very wealthy, with a wealth of knowledge and of material wealth. We have the means. If we never deal with the demand for drugs, the supply with never end. It is not only your job, but your responsibility is to help these people. And if you think jail is the best solution, then I am here to tell you that it is not.
And if you do not have the courage or the respect to try a new approach, I say you are all cowards and you have not only failed at your jobs, but you have failed my family and your own.
