Editor, Times-Union:In any successful business, various departments or divisions are required to work together in order to effectively meet client needs.

- No Plea Bargains No Plea Bargains Editor, Times-Union: Mark Johnson, and all men charged with molesting, do not have and should not be given the right to plea bargain for a reduced sentence. They should be charged on each and every count.Innocent children have suffered because of his perverted actions, he should be held accountable for each and every offense, not just one. Judge Reed, we ask that you remember the innocent children and give him the harshest sentence you can by law. He has committed crimes, now make him serve his time. Barbara Horn and Yancy Horn Jr.

- Sheriff Says Thanks - Clinton's Performance - Plea Bargains Sheriff Says Thanks Editor, Times-Union: I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to the Warsaw/Kosciusko County Chamber of Commerce and Biomet for honoring me with the 1998 Excellence in Government Award.A great honor has been bestowed upon me by this community in allowing me to serve as your sheriff for 16 years. This would not have been achieved without wonderful, dedicated employees and the support of my family and friends. The governmental and community leaders of this community have always been and continue to be exceptional in making the job worthwhile.Kosciusko County and the communities within remain the number one place to live and to work.

Editor, Times-Union:I read Gary Gerard's "News Views" on Saturday. The first time I read it, it made me mad.

I’ll have to admit, as mayor of an Indiana city, I was very disappointed with the results of the Indiana General Assembly’s most recent session.

- Coroner - Salvation Army Thanks - Uncensored Letters Coroner Editor, Times-Union: Obviously the reader who wrote a letter complaining that the coroner was drumming up business for McHatton-Sadler, etc.She made the comment "Watch who you vote for."Obviously she doesn't have a clue who the coroner is! Mr.Ladd is the new coroner! I believe before you blow your horn, have all your facts correct first! This woman owes John Sadler a public apology.

- Thanks To Mason - Plowing - Impeachment - Volunteers Thanks To Mason Editor, Times-Union: On behalf of many of the residents of Mason Health Care and their families, we would like to give a …

Editor, Times-Union:As the incessant clamor for the elimination of all positions related to government continues to rise, I was appalled to see the recent rant based on the unbiased reporting by the Canada Free Press.

Editor, Times-Union:A lot of people fear death, because it is something we have never experienced.

Editor, Times-Union:And here we go again.

Editor, Times-Union:My goodness, people like Robert Orn and Larry Sexton and just a handful of others obviously have a problem with free speech.

Editor, Times-Union:I am writing today to give a voice for those who are unable to defend their rights. Pit Bulls and dogs of all breeds. Stop blaming the dogs.

Editor, Times-Union:I just wanted to make a slight correction to Thursday’s section about the Lincoln Day dinner.

Editor, Times-Union:It amazes me that there are several people who write to the Times-Union and base their letters solely on conjecture and generalization.

Editor, Times-Union:I write today on behalf of Governor Pence’s tax cut proposal.

Editor, Times-Union:Did I make a mistake voting for our sheriff last election?

Editor, Times-Union:I wanted to share an experience I had the other night in hopes people learn something from it.

- Two Messages From Fatal Accident - A Grieving Mother - Thanks From Winona Lake Two Messages From Fatal Accident Editor, Times-Union: My name is Yolanda Kuta.I am a wife and mother. My husband and I had seven children, ranging from the ages of 15 to 29.On June 12, we lost our 17-year-old and future daughter-in-law along with a neighbor child to a drunk driver. Our granddaughter along with another young lady were seriously injured in this senseless accident. There are two messages that need to be addressed from this tragedy, and if I can just get one across, I feel that Aaron's death was not just a statistic.

Editor, Times-Union:It is that time again - spring - and many baby animals are again appearing, in the wild, in town and, unfortunately, in people's possession.

- Opposition To War - Buffoonery Opposition To War Editor, Times-Union: I have carefully observed and studied the dialogue in your column over the past 16 months on the subject of Iraq.It is understandable why those who oppose this military action are reluctant to speak out.The fairly scathing attacks they suffer from your regular contributors certainly puts a chill on any good-faith debate. The irony is that we are now told that it was for the cause of democracy and freedom that Iraq was attacked. It seems the principles of democracy and free speech escape some locally.

"If there is a bedrock principle underlying the First Amendment, it is that the Government may not prohibit the expression of an idea simply because society finds the idea itself offensive or disagreeable." - Supreme Court Justice William Brennan, Texas vs.Johnson, 1989. ***** The case of Texas vs.Johnson was one of the more controversial cases in the American legal system. It questioned whether an individual can be legally prosecuted for burning the American flag as a means of political protest. In their decision that burning the American flag is a Constitutionally protected form of expression, the court said the First Amendment literally forbids the abridgement only of "speech," but the court has long recognized that its protection does not end at the spoken or written word.

Editor, Times-Union:I was flattered to read reprinted excerpts of my 2004 letters to the editor in Saturday's News Views.

Editor, Times-Union:Well, what’s next? We here in Indiana just lost our Fourth Amendment, which basically means that a police officer can come into your house at anytime, day or night, with no warrant.

- Dancing Grannies - Thanks To EMS - Ashcroft Nomination - Mainstream Dancing Grannies Editor, Times-Union: I would like to know if there are any grandparents out there who enjoy dancing to the old "oldies."If so, the Warsaw Dancin' Grannies and Grandpas need more dancing feet.No experience is necessary. We are a nonprofit group so there is no charge to you.We do a variation of line dancing to the oldies. The benefits are many: fun exercise, a definite mood lifter, a big smile, a tapping toe from a nursing home resident and a guarantee to get rid of the winter doldrums. We entertain at parties, nursing homes, clubs, reunions and have danced at the Indiana State Fair for the past nine years.
