Editor, Times-Union: Obviously the reader who wrote a letter complaining that the coroner was drumming up business for McHatton-Sadler, etc. She made the comment "Watch who you vote for." Obviously she doesn't have a clue who the coroner is!
Mr. Ladd is the new coroner!
I believe before you blow your horn, have all your facts correct first!
This woman owes John Sadler a public apology.

Salvation Army Thanks
Editor, Times-Union: The Salvation Army would like to let the public know that "Our Father's House" Thrift Store in Warsaw is not connected in any way to our agency and we have not received nor will we receive proceeds from their operation. There has been some confusion on the part of the public so we wanted to clear this situation. The Salvation Army operates its own Thrift Store located at 622 N. Ellsworth St. in Warsaw, and our community ministries are made possible by the monies and gifts in kind given directly to our agency. "Our Father's House" operates as its own entity and we wish them well in their endeavors; however, anyone wishing to make a donation to The Salvation Army is encouraged to donate directly to our organization. Thank you, Kosciusko County, for your continued support of our ministry to those less fortunate in our county.

Uncensored Letters
Editor, Times-Union: While I can understand that Karl Reusser may not appreciate my letters about the local prosecutor, I believe his request that the Times-Union censor my comments is misguided. Yes, I've written several times during the past year. However, each letter contained new concerns, pieces of information, and/or questions, none of which have ever been addressed by the prosecuting attorney. Because this case has unfolded over many months, and because the newspaper has a word limit for letters to the editor, it is impossible to submit one document covering the entire story. Furthermore, many Americans exercise freedom of speech repeatedly when dealing with specific controversial topics. Abortion, gun control and the current alcohol controversy in your own area have been revisited by the same people time and again. To single out one individual and tell her she cannot reiterate an opinion over the course of a year seems discriminatory - especially when the prosecutor has free reign to repeat his slant on any issue, at any time, through the media.
It is particularly curious that Mr. Reusser would request censorship in regard to comments about an elected official. Individuals who run for public offices realize that their behavior will be discussed and debated in public forums. They know they will be observed, questioned and held accountable for their actions. Because public figures generally want to portray themselves in only the most flattering light, they sometimes avoid providing certain types of information. It is then necessary for the press and the citizens to ensure that this information is made public, so voters might make informed decisions. Certainly the right to expose the behavior of elected officials cannot be denied.
And no, it doesn't take an "extraordinary amount of effort" to hold a low opinion of the Kosciusko County prosecutor. After the way he behaved toward my grieving sister-in-law and parents, the unfavorable opinion was a natural outcome. If he's not held accountable for his inappropriate actions, what's to keep him from mistreating your family, your neighbor's family, or any other Kosciusko County family in a time of crisis, just as he did mine? Perhaps if you stood for a moment in our shoes, Mr. Reusser, you'd understand why the answers to my questions are so important, and why accountability on the part of the prosecutor is vital to your community.
So please don't ask me to stop writing letters; don't ask the Times-Union to stop printing them. Instead, ask the prosecuting attorney to do the right thing - not just for my family, but for your whole county as well. Ask him to take responsibility and apologize for his behavior. That would take virtually no effort at all.
