I just wanted to make a slight correction to Thursday’s section about the Lincoln Day dinner. It was stated that I was giving consideration to run for the 3rd congressional district in Indiana. It is important that my fellow Hoosier’s know that I am considering a run in 2016, but know I will not limit that to the 3rd district.
Over the last decade, we have seen a tremendous lack of compassion and leadership in our elected officials. More so, I believe, is the lack of love and compassion for our fellow man. Specifically, for all men and women to be treated equal. As many of you know, I am a 15-year combat veteran. Most recently, I was one of 10 veterans across the nation selected to be a Veterans of Foreign Wars and Student Veterans of America Fellow. This gave me a chance to meet with individuals in many offices of our elected officials. I was able to speak with many who are appointed by the president and also those elected by you.
I admit to say, I could have not been more distraught in a few of our leaders. A few being from districts that impacts us most here at home. In fact, I now see why America’s heroes are being failed daily. Because of this, it has sparked significant interest to not only stand for my fellow brothers and sisters in arms, but for all Hoosiers that are being led by individuals who seek to serve themselves. I now see that very same thought process in a few that have announced for the open 3rd congressional seat. I am glad to hear there are others that are considering the congressional seat that are not career politicians.
As I continue to pray for direction on how I will serve my nation now that I am honorably discharged from the military, I want to thank those many emails, letters and motivational talks I have received over the past few weeks. Also, I am ready and fully capable to lead at any level which is open for the next election cycle. I am well versed on the Constitution and how to follow it, our defense, and America’s foreign and domestic policy needs. I have no qualms with debating and bringing the vision and integrity it so deeply needs.
I am very excited for 2016. More so, I am excited for the possibility to bring back servant leadership with backbone and integrity. One which leads by and sets the example in honoring God and creates opportunities for all Hoosiers and Americans to live their dream.
