Letters To The Editor

Editor, Times-Union:Attention motorists, specifically those of you who drive on the Pierceton Road:

Editor, Times-Union: Well, I’ve seen it all now. Our state representatives, Bosma, Torr, Wolkins, Mclain and Kubacki, trying to push through a RTW bill that is not in the best interest of the American worker.

Editor, Times-Union: Some time ago I joined the Warsaw Library Reading Group.  This is a group of a few people who meet once a month to discuss a book they have read during the month. We select a book each time to be read during the period and then have an informal discussion about the book at the next meeting. We have read many authors and subject matters over time.

Editor, Times-Union:The March 24 e-cigarette education town hall meeting was successfully executed.

Editor, Times-Union:No knowledge, of course, if the vendors of gasoline in Kosciusko County took into account the possibility of having a Gas War, or even read the letter to the editor of June 09, 2011.

Editor, Times-Union:A lot has taken place over the last six months through Fellowship Missions and it has been humbling to see how God is working in our community.

AWL

Editor, Times-Union:If the AWL chooses to sell animals to a lab, should they not ask the owners to sign an agreement stating that their animal may not have the chance of finding a suitable home, as it may in other rescues and shelters, and this could be the final disposition of their animal.

- What Millennium? - Historical Impact What Millennium? Editor, Times-Union: Whatever Jan. 1, 2000, is it is not the beginning of a new decade, century or millennium! It has been often said, "If you …

Editor, Times-Union:My name is Bruce Tillman Jr. I am 20 years old.

Editor, Times-Union:After reading "Hillary Has No Credibility On Iraq," I was convinced even more that Hillary is wrong for the presidency.

Editor, Times-Union:Recently, President Bush has threatened to veto a bill that would increase the State Children's Health Insurance Program by $35 billion over the next five years.

Editor, Times-Union: I was very disappointed in the article about the recent Miss Kosciusko County Fair Queen Pageant, which was held on July 8th at the Pierceton Elementary School. For as long as I can remember there has been a front-page article honoring the Queen’s Court with a color picture printed in the Times-Union shortly after the pageant. However, this year the article was mixed in with the other “fair” entries and the picture was in black and white.

Editor, Times-Union:So the Deer Task Force bagged 41 deer this year.

Editor, Times-Union:The American Medical Association urges everyone to authorize organ and tissue donation because thousands of people die while waiting for organs or tissue for transplants.

Editor, Times-Union:Most newspaper readers are familiar with the flawed feline Garfield, and are aware of his slothfulness, insolence and gluttony, but not until the e-mail that is running through cyberspace had I ever considered stupidity as one of his flaws.

- Swan Slaughter - Swan Hunting - Inhumane Swan Killing - Beautiful Swans - Reform Swan Slaughter Editor, Times-Union: Most of the residents on Backwater Lake, North Webster, are horrified at the slaughter of the mute swans. This week alone we know of 10 that have been killed in one day.We understand that it only takes one person to complain about the swans being a nuisance and the DNR will issue a permit for someone to remove by any means, the swans, their nests and babies. We don't understand how only one person can speak for everyone on the lake. This permit is unlimited. They can kill as many as they want.Indiana has passed a law after June 1 that will allow mute swans to be taken at anytime without a permit.

- Awareness - Christmas - Special Interests - Gospel Truth Awareness Editor, Times-Union: A few years ago, Vaclay Hvel, president of the Czech Republic, came to Philadelphia and gave a July 4 speech. He told his audience that despite the prosperity and physical comfort, modern civilization has produced the world of our experience seem chaotic, disconnected confusing. We do not know exactly what to do with ourselves. We know much about the world about us but we understand our own lives less and less. What is happening? Today, to avoid hurting any one or more persons feelings we are slipping from the moorings of the strong docks which the earliest founders of our country built for greatness, stability, and an assured strong future for our and succeeding generations.

Editor, Times-Union:My friend and fellow Christian, who had many of his writings included in this evening newspaper, recently died leaving this earthly life.

Editor, Times-Union:On July 13, 1949 a group of men gathered in the Rainbow Room of Westminster Hotel in Winona Lake to pray all night for a moving of God.

Editor, Times-Union:To all veterans out there,Did you know by showing your VA card a lot of places will give you a 10 percent discount on your merchandise?

Editor, Times-Union:I continue to be amazed at the lack of common courtesy in neighborhoods, in public, on our streets and highways.

My grandfather, Theodore Miller, died at the ripe old age of 95 in 1997. When I was born, he was well into his 50s, and when I was old enough to remember him, he was well into his 60s. He was a wiry little guy, the youngest of 13 children. I was reminded of Grandpa when discussing the upcoming "Down the Sawdust Trail," a historic re-enactment of the Billy Sunday crusades, with Steve Grill. Grill, executive director of the Reneker Museum, portrays Sunday, the fiery evangelist who made Winona Lake his home. Much of Sunday's ongoing popularity came from his dynamic personality and natural athleticism, which he used to advantage from the pulpit. Sunday was one of the finest baseball players of his day, a star Chicago Red Stockings player at the turn of the century.

- Leesburg Sewer Too Expensive Leesburg Sewer Too Expensive Editor, Times-Union: What does Leesburg have in mind for a city sewer system, when they are saying all must hook on and pay a $2,500 (at least) hook-up fee, plus $76-plus a month fee? Not very many Leesburg residents could even afford that much a month. Every bill you get has gone up $20 to $30 a month.Health insurance, prescriptions, doctor, hospital - everything is out of sight.Gas is outrageous, almost $3 per gallon, then NIPSCO said our winter bill will be at least 50 percent higher. When and where will all this end? Then they want Leesburg residents to cough up another $76 a month for a sewer system. You can only stretch your money so far! They better be looking at a program for about $30 per month.

Editor, Times-Union:Surely, I'm not the only one troubled by what has and is taking place in the federal government.

- WW III Is Now - Doctors - The Time Zone Joke - Torture - Only One Holiday - Cheaper Gas - Stolen Snowman WW III Is Now Editor, Times-Union: We finally heard it on national TV last night.Like it or not, we are in World War III.About 10 or 15 years ago the Muslim world declared war on all the non-Muslim world on planet earth.Remember? I do.I didn't write it down when I heard it for the same reason you didn't.We thought: "We've heard that before. We know a little history. We remember the young Mohammed and the bloody start he got in southern Arabia at Mecca and Medina.
