Fair Queen

Editor, Times-Union:
I was very disappointed in the article about the recent Miss Kosciusko County Fair Queen Pageant, which was held on July 8th at the Pierceton Elementary School. For as long as I can remember there has been a front-page article honoring the Queen’s Court with a color picture printed in the Times-Union shortly after the pageant. However, this year the article was mixed in with the other “fair” entries and the picture was in black and white.

The Times-Union also failed to recognize all of the Queen’s Court. Our third runner-up, Miss Morgan Geer, was not mentioned in the article nor was she included in the picture.

Each and every contestant worked very hard in order to compete in this pageant. We are all involved with worthwhile organizations in the community as well as enrolled in high school or college. Besides our own accomplishments, there were several categories that we were required to participate in. These categories consisted of a private interview with the judges, an on-stage question, and modeling theme-wear, professional-wear and evening gown in front of the crowd. Every girl did an outstanding job and should be acknowledged for her efforts.

Finally, I would like to recognize the 10 outstanding contestants for the 2011 Miss Kosciusko County Fair Queen Pageant and our Court.

2011 Miss Kosciusko County Fair Queen: Kristin Quick

1st Runner-Up & Miss Congeniality: Gabriella Silor

2nd Runner-Up: Danielle Boggs

3rd Runner-Up: Morgan Geer

Non-Finalist Interview Winner: Shana Messmore

Contestants: Amy Walker, Jenna Coy, Mallory Hertel, Rissa Pitt, & Samantha Schrock.

I would also like to thank our pageant directors, Pattie Marlow and Krystalle Johnson, the Kosciusko County Fair Board, and all of our wonderful sponsors who helped make the pageant a success.
