Government

Surely, I'm not the only one troubled by what has and is taking place in the federal government.

You have the speaker of the house claiming, may I dare say, quite forcibly, in prior briefing when she was perhaps chairman of committee involved that no mention of water boarding to her recollection was made. Of course, documents being released proves she was made aware of all aspects of the water boarding fiasco. Since then she has come up with three different versions. Bottom line she wasn't correct in her story. Call it whatever you want. Now people, you may or may not know this, but under our constitution she is third in line to become president, if God forbid some disaster should take place.

Then we have another very important cabinet officer having big trouble with the truth. That being her having to dodge sniper fire on leaving her air craft. This, of course, was our now secretary of state. The whole thing was proven beyond a doubt to never have happened. Her explanation, "I misspoke," now there's an understatement.

Then there's another cabinet officer, the secretary of treasury, who too had a problem with the truth. He didn't evidently think you had to pay your taxes if you thought otherwise. And his whole working life spent in the finance sector. That to me is a too important job to be held by a tax cheat.

Then last, but not least, you have "he who nearly walks on water." That would be our president. He had a very close 20-year relationship with his pastor and claimed he had absolutely no knowledge of the kind of wild and ranting type of person he was. Someone evidently explained the situation to him and he all of a sudden dropped him like a hot potato.

This is just a sampling of what takes place on a federal level, and I would add I'm sure on both sides of the aisle. And we ain't seen nothing yet in my opinion.

I say may the good Lord help us because I think the truth is going to be a tad scarce in the next several years in Washington, D.C. Buckle up, folks, it's going to be a rough ride.

One final note in closing. It is my humble opinion, and I'm taking it with me to my grave. I think that had the great Barney Franks and the likewise, just as great Chris Dodd, fulfilled their duties in the committees they chaired, our financial problem would not have become anything near the disaster now facing us.

Does anyone agree?
