Walter Cole, 81, died at 11:45 p.m. Feb. 4, 2010, in Grace Village Health Care, Winona Lake, where he resided.

He was born June 7, 1928, in Ralphton, Pa., to John and Daisy Bardnt Cole. On April 28, 1946, he married Lillian Pearl Zitsch, who died May 20, 1997.

He was a mechanic for BJ Maurer Ford Dealership, Boswell, Pa., as well as a custodian at Johnstown Christian School, Hollspopple, Pa. He was a past member of Jenners Grace Brethren Church, Jenners, Pa., and attended Bethany Fellowship, Warsaw. He was a resident of Kosciusko County since 1992.

Surviving are two daughters, Catherine (and spouse Marlin) Schrock, Ulysses, Pa., and Mary (and spouse Joseph) Linger, Johnstown, Ohio; six sons: Jim Cole, Anchorage, Alaska; Bob (and spouse Trudy) Cole, Las Vegas, Nev.; Max (and spouse Nicole) Cole, Bluffton, S.C.; Patrick (and spouse Mary) Cole, Warsaw; Bill Cole, Rockvale, Tenn.; and Charlie Cole, Beaufort, S.C.; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, a sister and two brothers.

A private graveside service will be Monday at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, with Chaplain Glenn Byers officiating.

Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, is in charge of arrangements.
