ANGOLA - Virginia Nell Defreese Plank, 89, passed away peacefully Sept. 27, 2009, in Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake.
She joined her Lord and Savior, and her beloved husband of 47 years, Jonathan Wendell Plank, who passed March 19, 1988. She was born Dec. 21, 1919, in Elkhart.
She resided in Angola from 1946 until moving to Grace Village in 2005. She joyfully raised her family in Angola and was active in the community and the United Methodist Church. She was known and loved for her dedication to family, love of children, generosity, compassion, loyalty, helpfulness, quick sense of humor, community volunteering and lifelong delight in finding and collecting "pretties" and antiques.
Surviving are her sons, Jeff (and spouse Jodene) Plank, Warsaw, and Randy (and spouse Cindy) Plank, Panama City, Fla.; sisters Mayme Cooper and Helen Smole, both of Elkhart, and Betty Lorenz, Middlebury; six grandchildren: Ryan (and spouse Melanie) Plank, Savannah, Ga.; Chet (and spouse Victoria) Plank, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Sara (and spouse Todd) Huffman, Jacksonville, Fla., Andy (and spouse Krista) Plank, Indianapolis; Adam Plank, of Pescara, Italy; and Justin (and spouse Kristin) Plank, Plantation, Fla.; and eight great-grandchildren: Caden Huffman, 6; Ansley Plank, 5; Josie Plank, 4; Ellie Huffman, 4; Sawyer Plank, 3; Eli Plank, 2; Anna Huffman, 2; and Sophie Plank, 2.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Weicht Funeral Home, Angola.
Calling is from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home to celebrate her life.
