MENTONE - Viola F. Thomas Lisdat, 79, of 3138 S. CR 450W, Warsaw, died at 7:20 p.m. June 23, 2008, in Grace Village Health Care, Winona Lake, where she was a resident for three weeks.

She was born Dec. 25, 1928, in Kosciusko County, to Claude M. and Frances Harley Thomas. On Sept. 6, 1958, at First Baptist Church, Mentone, she married Erich E. Lisdat, who survives.

She worked at the Etna Elevator for more than 20 years until 1971. She graduated from Etna Green High School in 1947; Baptist Bible Institute, Grand Rapids, Mich., in 1952; and Moody Bible Institute in 1953. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and a farmer, where they raised hogs and cattle until 1971. She loved hunting for deer and mushrooms.

Also surviving are a sister, Kathryn (and spouse Roger) Greenawalt, Nappanee; and a brother, Robert L. (and spouse Edna) Thomas, Warsaw. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Dorothy Hepler, Gladys Cline, Helen Ross and Ethel Dossen; three brothers, Galen, Glen and Russell Thomas; and a half sister, Laura Schutz.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, 301 N. Broadway St., Mentone, with Pastors Michael Wilhite and Bryan Balasa officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bourbon.

Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.

King Memorial Home, Mentone, is in charge of arrangements.
