Staff Report-
Senator Randy Head has served in his state senate seat for 11 sessions and announced he’s resigning from the state legislature to become chief deputy prosector for Pulaski County.
Head formally has endorsed Logansport’s Stacey Donato to fill his seat and said her experience in government, business and community organizations will appeal to voters.
“Additionally, she offers sharp intellect, work ethic, people skills, conservative values and a heart for service that will make her an outstanding legislator,” Head said.
Donato’s experience includes running an auto racing organization of 600 members and organizing five racing events per year for over 100 cars; managing offices and personnel at large businesses, including personally hiring, firing and holding employees accountable for their work assignments; working as a business accountant; serving as a Eucharistic minister in her church; and parenting both her biological and foster children, Head said in his letter of endorsement.
“Senator Head asked me to replace him as our state senator, and after careful thought and conversations with my family and other leaders, I am running and asking for your support,” Donato said.
“Professionally, I have 30 years of experience in automotive dealership accounting and currently work as the head registrar for the Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association,” she said. “Also, I am in my second term on the Cass County Council. This experience has taught me valueable lessons that I will use in the State Senate.”
As a councilwoman, Donato has served on the Emergency Management Advisory Board, the Child Protective Advisory Board, the Logansport/Cass County Airport Authority Advisory Board, and the Grissom Air Force Reserve Base Community Council.
“My husband Jim and I are blessed with two adult children and two grandchildren, and I have been fortunate to be able to foster parent several children,” Donato said. “In my Catholic faith family, I serve as a Eucharist minister and as a member of the church choir.”
Within Donato’s community, she is involved with the Lewis Cass Band Booster, Cass County 4-H Dog Club, Wm. Paca Lodge #2366, Logansport Rotary Club and Cass County Republican Women.
“A servant’s heart is key when serving others, whether as a wife, mother, grandmother, county councilwoman, businesswoman or community leader. I’ve wholeheartedly fulfilled these roles and responsibilities throughout my life and will use all I have learned to represent you in the state senate,” Donato said.
“Stacey is strongly pro-life, will defend public education and will support our law enforcement officers as they put themselves in harm’s way to protect our community,” Head said. “Her experience in business and auto racing demonstrates that she has the backbone to stand up to those who will pressure her to make decisions that go against our district.”
Donato invites voters to reach her by phone at 574-721-1109 to ask her questions or set up a time to meet her.
