BREMEN – Sandra Kay Allen, 71, Morris, Ill., and formerly of Bremen and Yellow Creek Lake Church of God Campground, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jan. 10, 2015, at the Morris Community Hospital with her family by her side.
She was born Aug. 1, 1943, at St Joseph’s Hospital, Mishawaka, to Roy and Ivadell Pletcher Muffley. On Nov. 10, 1962, in Bremen, she married David J. Allen, her husband of 49-1/2 years, who preceded her in death.
She graduated from Bremen Senior High School in 1961. She graduated from Vogue Beauty School in Mishawaka, and worked as a hairdresser for several years in LaPaz. In her lifetime, she worked at the former Ristance Corporation, Bremen, as a caregiver for the elderly, and she also cleaned homes and businesses for several years. She retired from Burch Food Services, Warsaw.
While living in Indiana, she attended the Church of God in Akron, Warsaw and Bremen. During the past four years she attended Minooka Bible Church, Minooka, Ill. She was an avid reader, enjoyed tea immensely, and loved to garden and bake with her grandchildren. She was a wonderful grandmother, and created memories with her grandchildren that they will cherish forever and that will last a lifetime. She loved her family and especially enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren’s sporting events at Morris Community High School, and Shabbona Middle School. She was a “Prayer Warrior” for her children and grandchildren, and lived her life for Christ. She was a kind and sweet woman who always had a smile on her face.
Surviving are a daughter, Terese (and spouse Timothy) Kukman, Morris, Ill.; a son, Timothy (and spouse Jamie) Allen, Warsaw; four grandchildren: Brock, Allison and Riley Kukman and Willow Allen; two stepgrandchildren, Wyatt and Wayne Klinger; two brothers, Steve (and spouse Sandy) Muffley, Bremen, and Sam (and spouse Diane) Muffley, Plymouth. She also was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Mark Allen.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen, with family friend and minister Verdon Feldman officiating.
Calling is two hours prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
