SYRACUSE – Samuel H. “Sam” Mishler, 70, Syracuse, passed away at 7:52 p.m. July 2, 2016, at I.U. Goshen Hospital. He was born Aug. 29, 1945, in Nappanee, to Harvey J. and Leatha E. Miller Mishler. On March 22, 1970, in Syracuse, he married Roberta J. “Bert” Vanette, who survives in Syracuse. He grew up in Nappanee, attended public schools in Nappanee, and lived most of his life in the Syracuse area. He retired from Rinker Boat Company, Syracuse, after 18 years and formerly worked at Sea Nymph Boat Company, Syracuse. Also surviving are one daughter, Rose (and spouse Matt) Boger, Auburn; four sisters: Betty Borkholder, Sharon (and spouse Verton) Coblentz and Carolyn (and spouse Enos) Yoder, all of Goshen; and Arlene Hershberger, Elkhart, three brothers: Wayne (and spouse Mary Ellen) Mishler, Steve (and spouse Sue) Mishler, all of Goshen, and LaMar Mishler, Millersburg; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. in Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, with Pastor Harlan Steffen, the Wawasee Lakeside Chapel, officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.
