Rex Francis Watters, 84, passed away with his family at his side on Nov. 13, 2011, in Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
He was born July 20, 1927, to Herman and Agnes Bagley Watters. On Nov. 20, 1948, in Fort Wayne, he married Patricia Barr and shared 64 years of wedded bliss. She survives.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1945-47. He managed Fox’s Tavern, Fort Wayne, and owned Rex’s Rendezvous, Warsaw, for 22 years. Later in life he enjoyed traveling to many great places with his wife, including yearly trips to visit friends in Fort Myers Beach, Fla.
He was a hardworking and loving father to seven children: Rex II (and spouse Dana), Randy, Rene (and spouse Rick) Townsend, Roxanne (and spouse Rick) Berghoff, Rosanne (and spouse Mike) Diamente, Ricky (and spouse Diana) and Robin (and spouse Connie); 21 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Paul Edward and Walter Leroy. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Helen Johnstone; and a brother, Henry Eugene.
A celebration of life will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 27 at Rex’s Rendezvous.
Calling will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Anthony Wayne First Church of God, 6012 South Bend Drive, Fort Wayne, with services following.
