NAPPANEE - Phyllis R. Kaufman, 95, Golden Living Center, Elkhart, and formerly of Nappanee, died at noon Nov. 11, 2010 in her residence.

She was born Aug. 9, 1915, in Tyrone, Pa., to George and Catherine Corbin Reeder. On Aug. 9, 1944, in Tyrone, she married Joseph Edwin Kaufman, who died May 15, 1981.

She moved to Nappanee in January 1946. She was a bookkeeper and secretary and had worked for Dr. James Zimmerman and Hopewell Realty and Hahn Realtors. She was a longtime member of Nappanee United Methodist Church where she was active at Circle, thrift shop, as trustee, Sunday school and choir. She volunteered at Nappanee Public Library. She was a member of the Nappanee Order of Eastern Star and Thursday Club.

Surviving are two sons, Richard C. (and spouse Liz) Kaufman, Centennial, Colo., and William G. (and spouse Mary) Kauffman, Windsor, Colo.; two grandsons; and a sister, Marjorie Funk, Altoona Pa. She was preceded in death by a son.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Nappanee United Methodist Church with Pastors David Harrold and Janet McFall-Brown officiating. Burial will be at South Union Cemetery.

Calling is from 9 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church.
