Patricia 'Patty' J. McCallister

Patricia “Patty” J. McCallister, 83, Muncie, passed away April 26, 2016, in Indianapolis.
She was born Jan. 24, 1933, in Warsaw, to Paul Dewitt “PD” and Lena Belle Kelly Parks.
Originally from Warsaw, she lived in Muncie since 1962. She graduated from Warsaw High School in 1951; Ball Memorial School of Nursing in 1954; earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing and health science in 1978 and a master’s degree in science and nursing in 1981 from Ball State University.
A compassionate, caring and empathetic person, she worked part time as a hospice nurse, comforting those with terminal illness. Additionally, she worked full time as a nursing instructor at Ball State University from 1979 to 2000.
She enjoyed crossword puzzling and bird watching. She was a long-time member and elder of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Muncie.
Surviving are five children: Cynthia (and spouse  Patrick G. Rooney) McCallister, Greenwich, Conn.; Kathleen Warner, Cullman, Ala.; Rebecca Hall, Cudahey, Wis.; Ross (and spouse Lena) McCallister, Indianapolis; and Lee (and spouse Maria) McCallister; 14 grandchildren; a nephew; nieces and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Frances; and a brother, Jack.
Services will be at noon Saturday at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Muncie. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, is in charge of arrangements.
