Michael L. Kimes, aka “Mechanic 688,” 67, Warsaw, passed away at 5:25 p.m. July 3, 2016, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne.
He was born April 14, 1949, in Goshen, to Howard L. and Edith L. Price Kimes. On March 2, 1990, he married Trudy Rodeffer, who survives in Warsaw.
He is a Warsaw High School class of 1967 graduate.
He entered into service with the US Army on March 3, 1969, in Indianapolis. He served as a military policeman. Specialist E-4 Michael L. Kimes was honorably discharged Feb. 4, 1971 from Oakland, Calif.
He live most of his lifetime in the Goshen and Warsaw areas. He owned and operated CB Radio for 27 years. He was a NASCAR fan, and his favorite driver was Tony Stewart. He enjoyed electronics recycling and loved being with his family.
Also surviving are three daughters: Leanna (and spouse Nick) Brand and Sarah (and James Wheat) Kimes, all of Warsaw; Michelle (and spouse James) Yost, Sarcoxie, Mo.; five grandchildren: Cameron, Kyle and Caleb Heckaman, and Beth and Bridget Yost; two nieces, Alycee Kissinger and Patrice Hygemia; and one nephew, Eric Kimes. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dallas Kimes, who died March 20, 2002; and a sister-in-law, Sandra Kimes.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Denny Bollenbacher, New Beginnings Church, Atwood, officiating. Military graveside honors will be conducted by North Webster American Legion Post 253 in Pleasant View Cemetery, Warsaw.
