INDIANAPOLIS - Marilyn Jean Paton-Kuhn, 68, of 9240 Dubloon Road, Indianapolis, and Tippecanoe Lake, died at 9:45 p.m. Nov. 15, 2007, in St. Vincent's Hospice of Indianapolis.
She was born Dec. 22, 1938, in Indianapolis, to George R. and Amelia E. Bretz Paton.
She was married Aug. 20, 1994, at Tippecanoe Lake, to David M. Kuhn, who survives in Indianapolis.
She graduated from Leesburg High School in 1957. She graduated from Manchester College, and received a master's degree from Butler University. She taught at Pike Township Elementary schools for 43 years. She was past treasurer of the Pike Classroom Teacher Association and a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association and the National Education Association. She was past president, secretary and treasurer of Lambda Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa teaching sorority.
She was director of the Indiana Horse Council Foundation and past director of the Indiana Horse Council. She was a founding member of Indiana Half Arabian Horse Club and a member of the Indiana Arabian Horse Club. She was a commercial exhibit coordinator for Hoosier Horse Fair for 25 years and a commercial exhibit coordinator for the Region 13 Championship Horse Show.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 287; president and past director of Patona Bay Inc.; director of Lake Tippecanoe Property Owners Inc.; and a member of North United Methodist Church, Indianapolis.
Surviving are two brothers, George M. (and spouse Judy) Paton and Robert W. (and spouse) Judy) Paton, both of Tippecanoe Lake; two stepsons: Scott C. Kuhn, Indianapolis; and David E. (and wife Shelley) Kuhn, Syracuse; two nieces: Deb Paton Showley, Warsaw; and Kristine Paton, Tippecanoe Lake; a nephew, Robert J. Paton, Warsaw; 2 great-nieces; and 1 great-nephew.
Indianapolis calling will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Leppert Mortuary, 740 E. 86th St., Indianapolis. Warsaw calling will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, with an Eastern Star service at 6:30 p.m.
Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in North United Methodist Church, 3808 N. Meridian St., Indianapolis. A graveside service will be conducted at Leesburg Cemetery at 10 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Michael Heath officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Vincent's Hospice of Indianapolis or the Lake Tippecanoe Lake Environmental and Watershed Foundation.
