ARGOS – Marcile Irene Becker, 86, formerly of 17497 Filbert Road, Argos, died at 8 a.m. Nov 7, 2012, following a sudden illness, in Timbercrest Health Care, North Manchester, where she resided. She was born Sept. 23, 1926, in Akron, to J. Orville an Doris Keesey Ellis. On March 9, 1947, in Akron, she married Frederick “Fred” H. Becker, who died July 3, 1984. She grew up in the Akron community, moved to Argos in 1947 where she lived for nearly 50 years and moved to Timbercrest in April 1994. She was a bookkeeper for ASC’s, Plymouth, and Dalton Foundry, Warsaw, and was a farmer’s wife. She was a member of Eel River Church of the Brethren, North Manchester, and attended Walnut Church of the Brethren, Argos, for many years and was involved with the Ladies Aid at Walnut Church of the Brethren. She spent many years doing volunteer service at Camp Alexander Mack, Milford; New Windsor Brethren Relief Center, New Windsor, Md.; and World Handcrafts, in North Manchester, Ind. She was on the board of trustees at Timbercrest. She was a Handy Craft 4-H leader for several years and was involved with Walnut Township Home Economics Club. She graduated from Akron High School in 1944 and earned a degree in bookkeeping from South Bend College of Commerce. Surviving are two sons, Ron (and spouse Phyllis) Becker, Plymouth, and Don Becker, Fort Wayne; a daughter, Peggy Wieland, North Manchester; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Donna (and spouse John) Spencer, Cicero, and Janice (Harold) Shewman, Akron. She also was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter. Services will be at noon Saturday at Walnut Church of the Brethren, Argos, with the Rev. Robert E. Rice Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Argos. Calling is from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church.
