Leona Grace Frink Lackey, 94, died Dec. 8, 2009, in Hearthstone Health Center, Round Rock, Texas.
She was born Aug. 17, 1915, in LaJara, Colo., to Forrest Phleta Smith Frink and Arthur Burdet Frink. In 1937, she married John Frederick Lackey, who died in 1989.
Her mother died when she was 4 years old, and when she was 6 years old she moved to Alamosa to live with great-grandmother Grace Truesdale to attend Boyd School. In August 1924, she moved with her grandparents, Mina Leona and George Sidney Smith, from Colorado to Talma. She graduated from Beaver Dam School in 1935. She lived in Kosciusko County. She retired from Jomac Glove Factory in 1978, after 25 years of service. She was a member of United Pentecostal Church from 1941-99, when she moved to Austin, Texas, to be near her daughter. Her last years were spent at Gracy Woods II Living Center in Austin.
Surviving are a son, Paul Dean (and spouse Pam) Lackey, Warsaw; a daughter, Donella Sue Jones, Austin, Texas; a brother, Eugene Frink, Belin, New Mexico; sisters-in-law: Velma Hoover, Warsaw; June Frink, Lima, N.Y.; and Louise Frink, Florida; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many beloved friends. She was preceded in death by a son, a daughter and three brothers.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Dan Cox officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
