A Leesburg man was killed and a Milford woman injured in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon north of Milford.
An Elkhart man was not injured.
According to a news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal motor vehicle accident occurred on Ind. 15N, approximately 2,000 feet south of CR 1350N in Van Buren Township.
KCSO deputies and emergency personnel responded Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. to the accident. When emergency personnel arrived on scene, they found a Chevy Trail Blazer, driven by Michael W. Troup, 57, Leesburg, and an International Box Truck, driven by Joel Machorro De Leon, 58, Elkhart, involved in a head-on collision. The cause of the accident was undetermined as of Wednesday night.
Troup was pronounced dead at the scene by Kosciusko County Coroner Tyler Huffer. A passenger in Troup’s vehicle, Penny E. Coppes, 65, Milford, suffered cuts and had complaints of pain to her body. She was taken by Lutheran EMS to Lutheran Hospital in Warsaw for treatment of her injuries.
Machorro De Leon was not injured in the crash.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Milford Police Department, Milford Fire Department, Syracuse Police Department, Lutheran EMS, Reichert’s Wrecker Service and the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.
The crash remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County FACT.
