COLUMBIA CITY - Larry Lee Line, 61, of Columbia City, passed away suddenly on Feb. 13, 2009, in his residence.

He was born Sept. 27, 1947, in Wolf Lake, to Kenneth L. and Naomi E. Mitchell Line.

A lifetime resident of Whitley County, he graduated from Columbia City High School in 1965. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1967-69, in the Vietnam War. He worked at Precision Plastics, Fiber Form and Whitley County Hospital before starting a 32-year career as a machinist at Dana Weatherhead/C.F. Gomma, retiring in 2003. After his retirement he worked part-time at CITGO and Pak-A-Sak in Columbia City. He was a member of South Whitley AMVETS and enjoyed golf, was an avid card player and was known for his outdoor culinary skills.

Surviving are a son, Eric Line, Fort Wayne; a daughter, Jessica (and Brant Huntley) Line, Columbia City; two sisters, Lana (and spouse John) Pratt and Leatha Brown, all of Warsaw; his stepfather, Martin Trier, Columbia City; former spouse, Joyce "Foxy" Line, Fort Wayne; a brother, Mark Trier, Columbia City; two stepbrothers, Steve (and spouse Laura) Trier, Congress, Ariz., and Terry Trier, Zeeland, Mich; and two stepsisters, Linda (and Robert) Lefever, Churubusco, and Becky (and spouse Monty) Wolfe, Lake Placid, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with Pastor John Mann officiating. A graveside service will be at Eberhard Cemetery with military honors by the Korean War Veterans Association.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
