SYRACUSE - June C. "The Rose Lady" Laudeman, 93, of Syracuse, died at 6 p.m. Oct. 11, 2009, in The Maples At Waterford Crossing, Goshen.

She was born June 19, 1916, in Milford, to Irvin L. and Della Gilbert Coy. On May 19, 1945, she married Robert L. "Bob" Laudeman, who survives.

She lived most of her life in Kosciusko and Elkhart counties. She graduated in 1934 from Milford High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Manchester College in 1964. She also attended Indiana State University for graduate courses. She retired as a school teacher after 33 years and substituted 17 more years for a total of 50 years in Milford, Syracuse, Warsaw, New Paris, Millersburg and Fairfield schools. She also taught in Wabash and Huntington counties.

She was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church, Syracuse, where she served in the Samaritan Service Guild, Naomi Circle, Thrift Shop and Chancel Choir. She was active in the Ladies of the Round Table Literary Club and volunteered for Friends of the Library, Syracuse, and Avon Park, Fla. She was well known since 1973 as "The Rose Lady" because of the amount of flowers that she gave away. She was also known for her financial support of the Syracuse Community Center and Syracuse-Wawasee Parks Foundation.

Surviving are a son, Max (and spouse Janet) Laudeman, Syracuse; and a granddaughter. She was preceded in death by two sisters.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, with the Rev. Michael Neff officiating. Burial will be in Milford Cemetery.
