AKRON – Judith Ann Gast, 91, of Green Tree Assisted Living, West Lafayette, and formerly of Maryville, Tenn., died at 2:55 p.m. Oct. 13, 2011, in her residence.
She was born Sept 2, 1920, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Ralph Henry and Anita Plymire Auch. On Dec. 13, 1943, in Washington, D.C., she married Richard K. Gast, who died April 25, 2004.
She was a homemaker and graduated from Daugherty School for Girls, Cincinnati, in 1938. She then graduated from Purdue University in 1942 with a bachelor’s degree in home economics. She had been a school board member in Gahanna, Ohio. She was active in different garden clubs in Ohio and Florida.
Surviving are a son, Rich (and spouse Lois) Gast, West Lafayette; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son and two sisters.
Private services were Monday with the Rev. Mimi Tucker officiating. Burial was in Akron Cemetery.
Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, was in charge of arrangements.
