MENTONE - Jeanette Baker, 88, formerly of Bourbon, went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ at 11:27 p.m. Sept. 29, 2008, in Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, where she resided.

She was born Dec. 28, 1919, in Mentone, to Peter and Mary Lean Busenburg Blue. In October 1938, at First Baptist Church, Mentone, she married W. Ralph Baker, who died Dec. 6, 1988.

Living in the Bourbon area most of her life, she lived at Grace Retirement Community for nearly five years. She was a homemaker and loved gardening and fishing, especially the fishing in Minnesota and Wisconsin. She was a known vocalist, a member of First Baptist Church, Mentone, and was a 1938 Mentone High School graduate.

Surviving are a daughter, Sally Ridgeway Baker, Sacramento, Calif.; two sons, Larry R. (and spouse Yvonne) Baker, DeForest, Wis., and W. John (and spouse Julia) Baker, Warsaw; a sister, Jeannine (and spouse Dean) Nellans, Mentone; a brother, Royal (and spouse Linda) Blue, Redding, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Don Allen Baker, in 1947; two grandsons; a brother, Donald Blue; and a sister, Phyllis Secrist.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with Pastor Michael Wilhite, of First Baptist Church, Mentone, officiating. Burial will be in Parks Cemetery, Bourbon.

Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
