NAPPANEE – Jacob U. Schwartz, 54, of 1611 E. 3rd Road, Bremen, died at 4:15 p.m. Nov. 24, 2012, in St. Joseph Medical Center, after a short illness.
He was born Nov. 19, 1958, in Kalona, Iowa, to Uriah M. and Mattie Marie Miller Schwartz. On Sept. 24, 1981,  he married Clara A. Mast, who died Feb. 26, 1998. On Oct. 30, 1998, he married Delores Amanda Ropp, who survives.
He moved to Nappanee from Hazelton, Iowa, in 1998. He was a cabinet shop worker and a member of Old Order Amish Church.
Also surviving are a son, Uriah Jay Schwartz, at home; sisters, Anna Marie (and spouse Mervin) Mast and Katie Irene Hochstetler, all of Nappanee, Rosella U. (and spouse Henry) Wagler, Degraff, Ohio; Susan Mae (and spouse Eli) Schwartz, Hamilton; Mary U. (and spouse Wilmer) Schwartz, Bennington; and Edna U. (and spouse Perry) Borntrager, Etna Green; brothers, Joseph U. (and spouse Florence) Schwartz, Centreville, Mich.; Rudy U. (and spouse Polly) Schwarz, Chouteau, Okla.; stepsisters, Catherine Ropp, Kalona, Iowa; Margaret (and spouse Martin) Yoder, Rebecca Ropp and Inez Ropp, all of Nappanee; and stepbrothers, Elson (and spouse Arlene) Ropp, Kalona; Sanford Ropp, Goshen; and Ira (and spouse Joan) Ropp, Milford. He also was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Dennis Hochstetler residence, 2735 Birch Road, Bremen, officiated by Bishop Henry Hochstetler and the Home Ministry of Old Order Amish Church. Burial will be in Borkholder Cemetery.
Calling is after 1 p.m. today and all day Tuesday at the family residence.
