Gilbert F. Harshbarger, 93, Warsaw, passed away at 11:20 p.m. March 23, 2015, at Lake City Place, Warsaw.
He was born March 8, 1922, in Claypool, to Lee and Ethel Hill Harshbarger. On June 6, 1941, in Hammond, he married Viora N. Zuver, who survives in Warsaw.
He graduated from Hammond High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II. He held the rank of sargent. He was a signal maintainer for Norfolk Southern Railroad. He retired in 1982 after 42 years.
Also surviving are a daughter, Susan M. (and spouse Ronald) Kostrzeba, Valparaiso; a son, Mark (and spouse Kathy) Harshbarger; nine grandchildren: James Yocum, Dr. Kenin Krieger (and spouse Alan Rosolowski), Kerisa and Jeremy Kostrzeba, Terri Verbeeren, Kimberly A. Copeland, Doug (and spouse Jodi) Harshbarger, Kerry (and spouse Bruce) Johnson and Shelly (and spouse Andy) Knepp; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Harshbarger.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with the Rev. Michael Mueller officiating. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
