NAPPANEE - Gertrude W. Ritter, 93, died at 12:35 a.m. Oct. 31, 2009, in LuAnn Nursing Home, Nappanee, where she resided.
She was born July 9, 1916, in Bremen, to Oliver and Theresa Schultz Roth. On Oct. 28, 1933, she married Richard Evans, who died Dec. 4, 1954. On Nov. 23, 1955, she married Walter Ritter, who died Oct. 20, 1987.
Moving to Nappanee in 1926, she graduated from Fort Wayne Beauty College and was a beautician in Milford for 25 years at Trudy's Beauty Salon. She also worked at G.L. Perry, Nappanee. She attended St. John's Lutheran Church; was a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star; and a member of White Shrine, Elkhart.
Surviving are three grandsons and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son and two brothers.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, with the Rev. Thelma Megill-Cobbler officiating. Burial will be in Leesburg Cemetery.
