BOURBON – Geraldine M. “Jeri” Shearer, 84, Warsaw, formerly of Bourbon, passed away at 6:25 p.m. March 21, 2016, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. She was born Sept. 12, 1931, in Akron, to George and Mildred Shriver Harper. On May 17, 1969, she married William E. Shearer Jr., who died May 15, 1993. She has been a lifelong resident of the area. She was a graduate of Akron High School and attended college for medical secretary education. She had been employed at Doctors Smith and Campbell, Fort Wayne, as a medical secretary. She enjoyed going to the Wagon Wheel Theatre, Warsaw, hardly ever missing a performance. She loved to be a classy dresser with her shoe and purse collections for every occasion, along with the jewelry to match. She chose to be an organ donor, and her family honored her wishes. She is survived by her two daughters, Vicki Shearer and Cheryl (and spouse Jim) Holderman, all of Warsaw; a son, Michael (and spouse Susan) Shearer, Warsaw; four grandchildren: Melinda Shearer, Samantha (and spouse Jesse) Shumaker, Morgan Holderman and Spenser Holderman; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Arthur Harper. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gary, who died in 1980; a sister, Jolane Futrell; and several brothers. Family graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon, where she will be placed with her husband.
