Fed Gov Accountability

Editor, Times-Union:

Any federal official, whether appointed or elected, who is rightfully convicted of an act or acts of democide, capital crimes, a felony or felonies, misdemeanor(s), willful neglect of duty, or gross hazardous incompetence in the performance of their job duties that results in death, injury, property damage, or loss of liberty should be subject to one or more of the following remedies depending on the severity of the offense: immediate removal from office, imprisonment for a term or life, monetary fines, public pillorying, community service, manual labor, deportation, forfeiture or pensions and/or assets, loss of citizenship, etc.

Another remedy that should also be added is being permanently barred from holding elected and/or appointed office at the federal, state, and local levels.

These are standards that should be applied to both current and former officials depending on the statute of limitations for such offenses. It is also a set of standards that would better help in reforming the current Washington, D.C., no consequences for my actions or decisions culture, along with term limits and adding a none of the above option and vote to retain or not to retain in office measures on election ballots.
