ARGOS - Dorothy Marcella Smith, 71, of 201 N. Walnut St., Mentone, and formerly of Argos, died at 11:31 p.m. May 4, 2010, in her residence, following a sudden illness.
She was born April 19, 1939, in LaPorte, to Paul and Dorothy Smith McGriff. On Sept. 14, 1958, in Plymouth, she married William "Bob" R. Smith Jr., who died Oct. 18, 2007.
She lived in Mentone for the past two years and had lived in the Argos community for 33 years.
She was a homemaker and a 1957 Argos High School graduate.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia (and spouse Dallas) Richardson, Mentone; a son, Robert Jason (and spouse Ginger) Smith, Knox; 11 grandchildren: Jessica, Leah, Susannah, Cassia, Anna, Rebekah, Charissa, Noah, Isaiah Richardson, all of Mentone, and Billy and Andy Smith, both of Knox; two brothers, Jerry (and spouse Joan) McGriff, Lawrence, Kan.; and Paul Gene (and spouse Lois) McGriff, Millington, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Patti and JoAnn; and a grandson, Noah Ross Richardson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos, with the Rev. Glen Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
