Dorothy 'Dot' Mae Neidigh Wysong

SYRACUSE – Dorothy “Dot” Mae Neidigh Wysong, 81, Syracuse, died Jan. 11, 2014, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse.
She was born Sept. 17, 1932, in Martinsville to Ralph A. and Mary White Neidigh. On June 5, 1954, she married Richard M. Wysong, who survives.
She was a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church for 35 years where she faithfully worked in the nursery. She was a member of the Samaritan Circle, served funeral dinners and was a lay leader. She volunteered at Teen Parents Succeeding for 15 years. In 2009 her dedication was recognized with Michiana’s 55 Plus Volunteer Award, which stated, “Dot uses her experience as a mother, grandmother and retired nurse to nurture, to impart wisdom and to care for children...Her devotion to helping others has helped improve the lives of countless teen-parents and their children and through them has touched the entire community.” Her outstanding service to the Kosciusko County Community Foundation was rewarded with the Heart of Gold Award in 2008 for extraordinary acts of service and kindness to others. She received her education and training from Georgia Baptist Nursing School, Atlanta, and began her career as a registered nurse. She was the nurse at Bethel College, Mishawaka, in the mid 1970s and later worked with Dr. Jack Clark in Syracuse for 17 years. She was a member of the Junior Mothers Club and an avid and talented quilter. She leaves a devoted and loving family as her legacy.
Also surviving are three children: David (and spouse Theresa) Wysong, Bremen; Julie (and spouse Carl) Schrock, Syracuse; and Andrew (and spouse Jennifer) Wysong, Nappanee; six grandchildren: Lance (and spouse Kelsey); Melanie (and spouse Clarke Kauffman); Tanya Schrock; and Sarah, Sydney and Jack Wysong; two sisters, Marcia McLauchlin, Sturgis, Mich., and Nita Jo Bell, The Villages, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, Syracuse, with the Rev. Ed Beedle officiating.
Calling is from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the church and from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday before services at the church.
