SOUTH WHITLEY – Doris L. Brandenburg, 85, of South Whitley, died at 10:58 p.m. Jan. 26, 2013, in Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, where she was a resident since October. She was born Aug. 22, 1927, in Whitley County, to Clair C. and Georgia Doris Rubrake Bishop. On March 7, 1947, she married Floyd R. Brandenburg, who died Aug. 29, 2009. Her formative years were spent in South Whitley and graduated from South Whitley High School in 1945. She was a full-time homemaker, raising their five children. Following her husband’s retirement, the couple traveled extensively throughout the United States. Surviving are five children: Thomas W. Brandenburg, Fort Wayne; Judith Hall, Moxee, Wash.; Terry L, (and spouse Priscilla) Brandenburg, South Whitley; William C. (and spouse Elizabeth) Brandenburg, North Manchester; and Jeanna (and spouse John) Moore, Pierceton; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry (and spouse Kay) Bishop, Huntington; and a sister, Eunice (and spouse Roger) Ware, Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Jack, Max and John Bishop, and a sister, Clarice Drake. Service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley.
