SYRACUSE - Donald O. Cretcher, 79, of Pierceton, died at 4:23 p.m. Feb. 9, 2008, in his residence.
He was born Sept. 19, 1928, in Warsaw, to Delbert O. and Gertrude M. Eickmeier Cretcher.
He was a lifetime North Webster/Pierceton area resident, except for seven years in Fayette, Ohio. He graduated from North Webster High School in 1947, and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. He retired from Homecrest Cabinetry, Goshen, after 14 years, and formerly worked at Beatrice Foods, Archbold, Ohio, (formerly G&W Pizza, Syracuse), for 14 years and David Poor Builders, Warsaw. He was a farmer and co-owner of Cretcher & Son Farms. He was a well-known sheep shearer for many years. He was a member and past commander of North Webster American Legion Post 253, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1342, Syracuse, and the 40&8, North Webster.
Surviving is a son, Charles E. (and spouse Ronda) Cretcher, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by a daughter.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, with Pastor Brad Cox officiating. Burial will be in North Webster Cemetery (Mock Addition) with full military graveside rites by members of North Webster American Legion Post 253.
Calling is two hours prior to service Wednesday at the funeral home.
