PIERCETON - Donald Eugene Sloan, 53, of Warsaw, died at 5:40 a.m. Oct. 25, 2010, in Warsaw Meadows Healthcare Center.
He was born Jan. 3, 1957, in Warsaw, to William and Betty Bays Adams and adopted by Hazel and Dolly Allen Sloan.
A lifetime resident of the Warsaw and Pierceton areas, he served in the U.S. Army from 1985-87. He worked in well drilling for Jim Ousley Drilling Co. and also in logging for Bobby Allen Logging Co. He was a member of American Legion Post 258, Pierceton, and he loved NASCAR and sports.
Surviving are four children: Dustin Sloan, Etna Green, and Madison King, Kayley Sloan and Nicholas Sloan, all of Pierceton; two grandchildren, Conrad Benjamin and Kayden Allen Sloan; three sisters, Ella Ree (and spouse Frank) Labaj, Michigan City; Patricia Sue Akers, Warsaw; and Magil Akers, Ohio; and two brothers, Rick Tinkey, Warsaw, and Charles Mosher. He was preceded in death by his parents; adoptive parents; two brothers, Billy and James Akers; and a daughter, Jamie Marie Sloan.
Don was blessed with many loving and helpful friends and relatives.
Services will be at noon Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton, with Pastor Jeff Pfeiffer officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton, with military honors by members of American Legion Post 258.
Calling will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
