Dolores 'Dolly' Chapel

Dolores "Dolly" Chapel, 88, of 1145 Country Club Drive South, Warsaw, died at 1:57 a.m. Sept. 11, 2009, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

She was born March 18, 1921, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Edward and Mary Strosser Lang. She married William I. Chapel, who survives in Warsaw.

She lived in Warsaw and Walden Shores, Lake Wales, Fla. She graduated from Indiana University where she met her husband. Both were science majors, and throughout their marriage they shared an avid love of gardening and nature. This love and Dolly's sense of adventure led them to enjoy the ecology on their trips to Costa Rica, Guam and Palau. She also was a teacher, a realtor with Century 21, den mother for the Boy Scout troops, state chairwoman for Teen Age Republicans and always a gardener. The past several years they spent their winters in Florida where she could be seen feeding the cranes that came to visit her everyday in the yard.

She left her family a legacy of love for family, country, nature and a positive and courageous attitude and love for every moment of life.

Also surviving are three sons: William E. (and spouse Rebecca) Chapel, Edwardsville, Ill.; Jerry Michael (and spouse Dot) Chapel, Zionsville; and Patrick Lee (and spouse Melanie) Chapel, Vestel, N.Y.; six grandchildren: Kelli, Kevin, Jason, Tasha, Geoff and Neil; and three great-grandchildren, Devin, Danica and Jaden. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Gerry.

Services will be at noon Monday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is two hours prior to the service Monday at the funeral chapel.
