BOURBON - Dale P. Wood, 67, of 2606 20th Road, rural Tippecanoe, peacefully entered into rest at 7:30 a.m. Aug. 2, 2008, in Goshen General Hospital. He was in failing health.

He was born Dec. 29, 1940, in Mishawaka, to Ernest and Myrtle Proudy Wood. On Feb. 17, 1963, he married Jewel Whetstone, who survives.

He and his wife owned Suspension Spring Specialist, Bremen, since 1986. He was an avid fan of automobile racing and a resident of Tippecanoe since 1963.

Also surviving are two daughters, Christine Hanson, Bourbon, and Mandel (and spouse Brandon) Taylor, Tippecanoe; a son, Larry (and spouse Jeanette) Wood, Warsaw; 10 grandchildren, Montana, Megan and Dale Wood, Amberly, Courtney, Brandi and Joshua Taylor, Dakota and Victoria Grubbs and Bryant Hanson; a sister, Luretta Jamesen, Elkhart; and a brother, Ernest (and spouse Sandy) Wood, Elkhart.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, Bourbon, with Pastor John Contreras officiating. Burial will be in Tippecanoe Cemetery.

Calling is from 1 p.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
