NAPPANEE – Dale E. Shively, 78, of Nappanee, died Jan. 14, 2013, in his residence.
He was born July 3, 1934, in Tippecanoe, to Russell and Geneva Baer Shively. On Nov. 26, 1955, in Warsaw, he married Doris Helser, who survives.
He attended Nappanee Schools and graduated from Etna Green High School in 1952. He owned Shively Insurance and worked as an agent in Nappanee and Goshen. He drove the school bus for Wa-Nee Community Schools for many years, and also had worked for Nappanee EMS for many years. He was a member of Nappanee Church of the Brethren and the 3rd of July Club, Goshen.
Also surviving are three daughters: Lisa (and spouse Paul) Burris, Wabash; Jenni (and spouse Mark) Heeter and Annette (and spouse Randy) Spitaels, all of Nappanee; a son, Steve (and spouse Deb) Shively, Wakarusa; nine grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and three sisters: Sally (and spouse Ernest) Heighway, Richmond; Eleanor (and spouse Glen) Deaton, Hope; and Nancy (and spouse Larry) McPherron, Plymouth. He was preceded in death by one brother.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Nappanee Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Byrl Shaver officiating. Burial will be in Stony Point Cemetery.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and one hour prior to the funeral service.
