COLUMBIA CITY – Cora Barney, 92, Columbia City, passed away at 6:15 p.m. Oct. 18, 2014, at Renaissance Village, Fort Wayne. She was born Aug. 18, 1922, in Kosciusko County, to Ralph J. and Pearl C. Goppert Bailey. She was married to Robert Murphy, who preceded her in death; and to Howard Nebelung, who also preceded her in death. On May 22, 1984, she married William C. Barney, who survives. She was a Kosciusko County resident until her marriage. She then moved to Columbia City. She graduated from Pierceton High School with the Class of 1941. Besides being a homemaker and helping with the family farm, she had worked at the Party Shop and Azars in Warsaw, and was a member of the Moose. Also surviving are a son, Robert P. (and spouse Gayle) Murphy, Larwill; a stepdaughter, Barbara J. (and spouse Joseph) Clark, Fort Wayne; a sister, Helen (and spouse Don) Aldrich, Warsaw; two brothers, Ralph (and spouse Myrna) Bailey, Columbia City, and Donald Bailey, Warsaw; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Judy E. Walters; a sister, Ruby Widman; two brothers, Robert Bailey and Lewis Bailey; and three grandchildren: Sean Patrick Murphy, Melody Boyer and Jack Linn Cutler. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with Diane Samuels officiating and eulogy by Ralph Bailey.
