On Saturday, the community of Claypool was invited to a community meal at Claypool United Methodist Church and school supplies give away.
Over 125 people gathered, including incoming Principal Kristi Lucht.
The event came about because of a vision to provide Claypool students with a place they can come, receive a meal and join in fun and learning, according to a provided news release. That program happens every Thursday after school until 5:30 p.m. at the church located just diagonally across the street from the school. The Priser family noticed a number of children went home to empty houses after school.
Out of this Thursday afternoon program came the idea of holding a church wide garage sale to raise money for school supplies. Over $500 worth of supplies were given out to community families.
