NORTH WEBSTER – Betty L. Kruger-Howe, 94, Cromwell, and formerly of North Webster, passed away at 12:33 p.m. March 24, 2015, at her residence.
She was born July 14, 1920, in Kokomo, to William Roscoe and Mary Alice Underwood Barker. On Sept. 26, 1940, in Marion, she married Loren T. Kruger, who preceded her in death Aug. 19, 1990. On July 14, 2007, in Pierceton, she married Maurice J. Howe, who preceded her in death Sept. 19, 2007.
She moved to the Pierceton area in 1927 from Kokomo. She graduated in 1938 from Pierceton High School, and later graduated from Ravenscroft Beauty School, Fort Wayne. She was a retired beautician and formerly worked for Nestle’s Beauty Shop, Gerard’s Beauty Shop and Princess Parlor, all of North Webster.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, North Webster, and was past president, charter and life member of American Legion Auxiliary #253. She was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star in Syracuse and Lambda Chi Omega. She was a musician with the Mock Twins Band, Dancing Grannies and many other area music groups. She played the piano for the Yellow Banks Hotel for over 50 years, and on WRSW Radio as part of the first sponsored radio group.
She is survived by a daughter, Kay L. (and spouse Yut) Promkhieo, North Webster; a son, Kurt K. (and Kim Zink) Kruger, Cromwell; a stepdaughter, Linda (and spouse Paul) Kennedy, Auburn; a stepson, Ronald (and spouse Peggy) Howe, Greenback, Tenn.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rosemary Parsons, Warsaw. She also was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Kris Kruger.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Ind. 13 and CR 500N, North Webster, with Pastor Byron Kaiser of the church officiating. Burial is in the Mock Addition of North Webster Cemetery.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
