Barbara Wyand, 88, of Winona Lake, passed away at 10:50 a.m. Aug. 19, 2012, in her daughter’s residence in Leesburg.

She was born Sept. 26, 1923, in Greenville, Mich., to Lynes F. and Meroe M Coats Baldwin. On Aug. 19, 1945, in Greenville, Mich., she married Donald Wyand, who survives in Winona Lake.

Her husband was a Naval Aviator for 33 years and his career took them many places to live both in the United States and abroad. She formerly worked at Gibson Refrigerator Co., Greenville, Mich.; the Spaulding Co., Grand Rapids, Mich.; and a chain of Deli’s in Coronado, Calif., as an accountant. She volunteered at numerous Naval hospitals, the Navy Relief Organization, American Red Cross and served as a Pink Lady at Coronado Naval Hospital. She was an avid bridge player, swimmer and diver. She was a guest of the Queen of England at Buckingham Palace in 1972.

Also surviving are daughters, Susan (and spouse Bill) Allen, Leesburg, and Nancy (and spouse Bruce) Stambler, Simi Valley, Calif.; a son Donald (and spouse Silda) Wyand, Honolulu, Hawaii; grandchildren: J.B. (and spouse Lisa) Van Meter, Carmel; Dawna (and spouse Don) McCune, Warsaw; Kelly Stambler, San Francisco, Calif.; Robby Stambler, Santa Monica, Calif.; Nick Allen, New Orleans, La; and Joshua and Ethan Wyand, Honolulu; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with the Rev. Robert Livingston officiating. Burial will be in Point Loma National Cemetery, Point Loma, Calif.
