HARTFORD CITY - Albert Franklin Smelser, 89, died at 8:30 p.m. Nov. 7, 2007, in his residence.
He was born May 26, 1918, in Muncie, to Oliver and Maude Chesworth Smelser. On May 22, 1939, in Portland, he married Martha Hinkle, who died Nov. 1, 1989.
Surviving are four daughters, including Betty V. (and spouse Wayne W.) Walston, Leesburg; two sons; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Keplinger Funeral Home, Hartford City, with the Rev. Garry Reff officiating. Burial was in Beech Grove Cemetery, Muncie.
