Kosciusko County’s 4-H livestock auction last week generated $411,718.16, down about $1,013.55 from 2016, according to a report provided by Kelly Heckaman, the extension educator for Purdue Extension of Kosciusko County.
This year’s auction saw 38 fewer lots compared to 2016, according to the report.
The existing sales record was set in 2014 and was $437,674.79.
This year’s grand champion beef steer was exhibited by Collin Deatsman. Weight was 1,335 pounds. Purchase price was $15,000.
Reserve grand champion beef steer was exhibited by Riley Shepherd. Weight was 1,295 pounds. Purchase price was $10,600.
Grand champion dairy steer was exhibited by Hunter Magiera. Weight was 1,615 pounds. Purchase price was $6,000.
Reserve grand champion dairy steer was exhibited by Makenna Sausaman. Weight was 1,380 pounds. Purchase price was $3,200.
