YORKTOWN – Sydney Abbott secured a spot in the NCCAA National Championships on Saturday for Grace College’s women’s golf team.
Warsaw had third-place finishes at No. 3 singles and at both doubles positions, helping the Tigers finish fourth at the Warsaw Invitational boys tennis tournament Saturday. Caleb Williams was third at No. 3 singles, and Warsaw had a third-place finish from Bailey Buhrt and Spencer Britton at No. 1 doubles and the No. 2 doubles team of Reuben Williams and Brian Elliott, all in straight sets.

From the opening kickoff, Rochester was the dominant football team in its 37-7 Three Rivers Conference win over Whitko Friday. Corbyn Wood ran the opening kickoff back 95 yards for the Zebras, who are undefeated so far this season after going winless last year.
Wawasee exceeded its point total of its previous two games, but fell 51-29 to 5A No. 3 Concord in Northern Lakes Conference football Friday. Warrior quarterback Aaron Evans and receiver Dylan Hepler Fink connected for touchdown passes of 80 and 89 yards in the third quarter to keep Wawasee within striking distance.

Grace College’s women’s tennis team won its second road match of the week with a 6-3 triumph at Trine on Thursday. The Lady Lancers (4-1) grabbed an early advantage in doubles’ play by taking two of the three matches handily. Emily Mast and Carrie Copeland combined at No. 1 doubles to win 8-2, and Jenna Jackson and Molly Fitzpatrick earned another 8-2 win at No. 2. Mast won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, and Copeland also earned a 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 victory at No. 2. Jackson picked up her second point of the day at No. 3 singles 6-2, 6-1.
Wawasee fell to 0-2 in Northern Lakes Conference volleyball after its 25-23, 23-25, 25-22, 25-19 loss to visiting Goshen Thursday. Peyton Rookstool had seven kills for the Lady Warriors, with Brooke Heche adding 19 digs.

Grace College is will host The Educators Leadership Learning Summit (TELL) on Oct. 30. The Summit, held at Grace’s Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center, is specifically created for school superintendents, administrators, principals, athletic directors and coaches. The TELL Summit will bring in numerous top state educators and motivational speakers to share their experiences in the world of education. The Grace College Athletic Department created the summit, providing an educational event that is unique across the state of Indiana. The TELL Summit is designed to inspire current and future educators in the high school world. This TED Talk-inspired event was created to spark new learning ideas, stimulate deep discussion and provide networking opportunities among like-minded educators.
