Eric Ocock scored a pair of goals Saturday, including one on a penalty kick, and Luis Celto scored off an assist from Tedros Berelsman for Warsaw in its 3-0 non-conference boys soccer win over visiting Valparaiso.

Ocock’s first goal was assisted by Blake Burns.

The Tigers junior varsity won 1-0 on a first-half goal by Isaiah VanPufflen. The junior varsity record improved to 5-3 overall.

Warsaw (7-3-2) hosts NorthWood Tuesday in a Northern Lakes Conference game. The Tigers will also observe Senior Night before the match.

Lady Tigers Fall

Anna Grill and Abby Steffensmeier each had a goal and an assist for Warsaw in its 3-2 non-conference girls soccer loss to visiting Noblesville Saturday.

“We played some excellent soccer today against one of the better teams in the state,” Warsaw coach Jon Hoover said. “I thought we played very hard, but you could see the effect three games in six days can have.

“Our girls put themselves in a position twice today to win the game, but it just wasn’t meant to be. This was a great game for our program to be a part of.

“These are the teams that you’ll see late in the state tournament, and I think we are showing that we have the potential to do great things as the season rolls along.”

In the junior varsity match, Tobi Avery scored the Lady Tigers’ lone goal in a 5-1 loss to Noblesville.

The Lady Tigers are right back at it today, hosting Fort Wayne Northrop in a non-conference match. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:45 p.m.

Lakeland Christian Splits In Tournament

LAKEVILLE – Lakeland dropped its first match Saturday, 4-0 to host LaVille, then rebounded for a 4-2 win over Oregon-Davis in the LaVille Invitational boys soccer tournament.

Lady Cougars Drop Close Match

SOUTH BEND – Lakeland Christian surrendered a goal in the first two minutes of its girls soccer match Saturday, and could never take the lead in its 3-2 loss at Trinity Christian.

Tori Calizo and Anna Reimink scored goals for the Lady Cougars.

“We seemed to play slower then normal and really didnt look like they were having too much fun out there,” Lady Cougar coach Nat Raber said. “A lot of excuses could be made but the fact is they put three goals in and we only put in two. It was great to see the girls once again claw their way back into the game, but the results weren't what we were hoping for.”

Lakeland Christian (1-4) hosts Wabash at 5 p.m. today.

Whitko Falls In OT

SOUTH WHITLEY – Charlotte Cripe scored twice, including once on a penalty kick, and Julia Seifert added a goal for Whitko in its 4-3 Three Rivers Conference girls soccer loss to Wabash in overtime Saturday.

The Lady Wildcats host Fort Wayne Wayne in a non-conference match at 5 p.m. today.
