GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Grace College’s volleyball team started the Cornerstone Tournament by splitting a pair of matches on Friday.

NORTH MANCHESTER – With sectional play just a week away, the Manchester Squires were looking for some momentum.

DUNLAP – The final score shows that Warsaw’s volleyball team swept Elkhart Memorial in Thursday’s Class 4A sectional opener at Concord High School.

NAPPANEE – Heart and desire took Tippecanoe Valley to a 22-win volleyball season this year. But Fairfield had the same elements, and added some height to their mix.

NAPPANEE – West Noble had a one-two punch that Wawasee could not overcome in the Lady Chargers’ 25-18, 25-13, 25-20 volleyball victory over the Lady Warriors in the opening round of the 3A NorthWood Sectional Thursday night.

Alicia Sikora had 25 assists and 13 digs, with Kristina Slater adding 14 digs, five kills and an ace for Whitko in its season-ending 25-13, 25-19, 26-24 volleyball loss to Wabash in the 2A Rochester Sectional Thursday.

Anna Osbourne had six kills and an ace, and Eva Bazzoni had five kills for Manchester in its 25-16, 25-18, 25-21 volleyball win over Cass in the opening round of the 2A Rochester Sectional Thursday night.

The second-annual Tony Elliott Foundation charity golf scramble was held recently at the Tippecanoe Lake Country Club. The event included golf as well as a lunch, cocktail reception and silent auction.  There were a total of 23 foursomes competing for a Warsaw Cut Glass custom trophy and other prizes. The winning four-person team consisted of Murray Bartel, Nick Anglemyer, Mike LaLonde and Dan Conti.

WINONA LAKE – Grace College’s men’s soccer team treated the fans at 1st Source Bank Field to an exhilarating 3-2 victory over Indiana Wesleyan University on Wednesday.

The Lakeview Lady Tigers eighth grade volleyball team won the NELMSC conference tournament Wednesday night, defeating Milford in the semifinals and earning a 25-17, 25-15 win over Plymouth in the title match.

CULVER – After Triton won the first two sets of its 1A Culver Community Sectional quarterfinal volleyball match with South Central, the Lady Satellites made the next two sets much more interesting.

One of the best part of sports is that it, generally, has no eternal significance.

Lakeview 7th Grade Football Team Downs Edgeview

Tippecanoe Valley football coach Steve Moriarty will return to the team today as an assistant coach after being suspended as head coach last week, according to a statement released by the school corporation late Monday afternoon. Jeff Shriver will remain in place as interim head coach.

CULVER – The wind wasn’t the only thing that blew through the 5K course during Saturday morning’s boys and girls cross country sectional at Culver Academies.

Once Warsaw’s boys soccer team got over the 3A sectional championship jitters, the Tigers controlled much of the match against Homestead, rolling to a 3-0 victory on their home field Saturday afternoon.

FORT WAYNE – Manchester’s girls soccer team played an up-tempo game all season, so when it took on host Fort Wayne Blackhawk in the 1A sectional title match, the Lady Squires faced a team that liked to run, too.
