MISHAWAKA – A dominant fourth quarter lifted the Grace College women’s basketball team to a 67-53 rivalry win at Bethel on Saturday. The Lady Lancers (4-7, 1-2 Crossroads League) muted Bethel to the tune of six fourth-quarter points. Grace, meanwhile, ripped off 19 points in the frame keyed by its pesky defense.

The eighth grade Edgewood team won the Northridge boys basketball tournament Saturday.

Warsaw’s boys swim team won its invitational title for the fourth straight season, while the Lady Tigers used depth and a series of top-three finishes to claim its first meet title Saturday at the WCHS pool. Manchester’s boys were fifth at the meet, and the Lady Squires took seventh. The Tiger boys won seven events and scored 595 points to easily outdistance runner-up Rochester’s 368 points. Nick Zogbi was a double winner, taking the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Grant Knight won the 200 IM and Evan Borchers took first in the 100 butterfly and third in the 500 freestyle. Alex Cook had a pair of second-place finishes, in the 50 and 100 freestyles. The Tigers also won all three relay races.

Lakeland Christian Academy added two new members, Amy Helmuth (Doron) and Jay Widman, to its Cougar Hall of Fame during homecoming activities recently. Doron, a 1996 graduate, played volleyball, basketball and softball for the Lady Cougars. As a middle school student, she was a member of the 1991 Indiana Christian Athletic Association (ICAA) basketball and softball state championship teams.
Two Triton players were named to the Indiana Football Coaches Association Class 1A All-State team on Friday.
At times, said coach Doug Ogle, the Warsaw Tigers were too tentative offensively Friday night.
